Penfield YMCA makes kids game for exercise
From democratandchronicle.com:
“The Eastside Family YMCA opened its Tween Wellness Center on Oct. 2. The branch converted a lounge, stocking it with strength equipment, seven cardio stations, and recumbent bikes in addition to the gaming systems and other exercise devices. Trainers stationed in the center teach kids how to use the equipment.
The center is open to YMCA members between 8 and 12, and 6- and 7-year-olds like PJ are allowed to use the gaming systems.
The new center follows the successful launch of a similar facility at the Northwest Family YMCA in Greece in 2007. By January, the Westside Family Branch in Gates will open its own, said Mary Kay Walrath, vice president of development and communication for the YMCA of Greater Rochester.”
