Quantify the burn with the Wii Fit Calorie Meter

Published by Chris under Games

From Joystiq:

wiifitcalorie Why doesn’t Wii Fit include an estimate of the calories you burn during exercises? That would be really useful. Nintendo seems to agree, at least — it has created a Flash application that does just that.

The Wii Fit Calorie Meter couldn’t be easier to use, unless it were in English! Push the big green button in the middle to start, then enter your weight (in kilograms). You can then click on each exercise you’ve done (or plan to do) and tell the calculator the number of sets you’ve done of each. The app will add up your calories as you go!

Health Control Game Timer puts digital leash on Nintendo DS fanatics

Published by Chris under News

From dvice.com:

HealthControlTimerDS On the crowded Japanese train system the only thing you’ll see commuters obsessively staring at more than their super-advanced cell phones is the portable gaming system known as the Nintendo DS. Now a new device called the Health Control Game Timer has been released to help these gamers regulate their DS addiction. If you find that your play sessions have been going on too long, the device can be set to stop your game play after a certain amount of time.

The device also features a distance sensor that will flash a red light when your face gets too close to the screen during those unusually intense gaming sessions. Whoever develops this kind of thing for desktop World Of Warcraft players will make a fortune. For now you can pick up the DS version of this digital watchdog for just 3,990 yen ($40) here and check out video of the Health Control Game Timer in action here.
