Gamercize gets Kids Moving in the Philippines

Published by Chris under News

From 24-7pressrelease.com:

gzkidsfitness At the gym, kids make friends, are motivated to exercise through group play, video games and interactive equipment while developing good motor skills and body coordination.

No interactive gym can be complete without Gamercize interactive fitness gaming so Game Gym founder, Richard Barria flew equipment halfway around the globe in time for the grand opening.

"The good thing about Gamercize is its wide range of use. You can play any PlayStation game here. unlike the stationary bikes where the only games you play are car chases and racing, with Gamercize, you can play Fight simulations, Basketball, Car chases, everything.

Gamercize is not complicated to use. We have 5 year old kids already using it. On average kids play for more than 10 minutes on the Gamercize before being asked (by our trainers) to allow other kids to use it.

The kids love Gamercize, and we change the games often so as not to be repetitive. Most of the time, they didn’t notice that they are perspiring. They are "into" the game so much to feel tired," Barria adds.

Children Tell Researchers: We’ll Get Fit if It’s Fun

Published by Chris under News

From marketwatch.com:

gzsportaction An independent study at the University of Cumbria found that nine in every ten youngsters want to play video games at the same time as exercising. The games reduce the boredom of exercise.
Fifty children aged 11 and 12 were asked to use exercise equipment combined with video games provided by a company called Gamercize.

The children could play their games only while they maintained movement on the fitness machines. If they stopped exercising, the games paused.

Researcher Jack Tyson said: “The results of this study show that 90% of children like combining video games with exercise.

“Only one in five of these children was achieving the recommended one hour a day of moderate physical activity, while three-quarters of them played video games for more than one hour a day.”
