My Fun Facts Coach Review

Published by Chris under Games, review

From ign.com:

my_fun_facts_coach_ds_esrbboxart_160w Ever since the self-improvement genre found its place on DS back in 2006 with Brain Age, we’ve seen countless developers try to tap into the same market. Most prevalently, Ubisoft’s "My Coach" series. They have been pumping them out since late 2007, and have now released no fewer than a dozen titles in as many months. Covering everything from vocabulary to weight loss to dog care, Ubisoft provides us with just about everything we need to become balanced, cultured, healthy individuals in our everyday lives. Now that all the important knowledge is out of the way, Ubisoft can start teaching us about all the useless junk that’s left over, this time partnering with Powerhead games to bring us My Fun Facts Coach on the DS. Finally, our lives are complete.

Published by Chris under Games

From canada.com:

nintendo ds, coach, ubisoft

The Nintendo DS has captured a lot of the coaching software market. The hand-held system, with a double screen, has taken off strongly. In addition to Super Mario and other games, it also has proven a useful platform for companies such as Ubisoft, which produces coaching titles ranging from language tutors to cookery coaches.

Ubisoft’s language-coach series includes not only a vocabulary coach for English speakers called My Word Coach, but has also expanded the series into Spanish and French. My Word Coach features a range of games designed to help you improve your vocabulary.

From sfgate.com:

“Ubisoft’s latest Nintendo DS game can hardly be called a game.

My Stop Smoking Coach with Allen Carr breaks ground in using gaming hardware and software to tackle a particularly troublesome real-world personal challenge.

But the game, due this month, is just the latest in a growing tide of new titles, mostly Nintendo DS games, that help players achieve a personal goal or obtain a usable skill. The list includes My Weight Loss Coach, My SAT Coach, My Japanese Coach, What’s Cooking? With Jamie Oliver, Let’s Yoga and Let’s Pilates.

Call it self-help gaming.”
