Seniors turn to Wii bowling to stay fit
From delawareonline.com:
“Factor, of Wilmington, is one of a growing number of seniors joining Wii bowling leagues at senior centers across New Castle County. Twelve seniors have been playing at the Clarence Fraim Senior Center since February.
“It’s so much fun, and it’s exercise. But we really get a kick out of it,” said Theresa Shaw, 75. “It’s better than sitting around and playing cards.”
Nicole Schmid, program director for the Fraim Center for Active Adults, said the Wii is great because it keeps seniors’ minds and bodies active while exposing them to technology.
Beginning Sept. 29, the Wii players at the Fraim center will compete with other players at nearby senior centers. All the scores will be sent to Schmid, who will then post the results of the week’s top team and player.”
